| Company Profile
INTERFAB is a privately owned engineering facility, specialising in the manufacture of high quality sheetmetal components with strong focus on customer support from the early stages of product development, through fast prototyping, to final production.
Our manufacturing processes are supported by over 25 years of experience in the manufacturing of precision sheetmetal components as well as a continuous investment in modernisation of our plant. Over the years Interfab has developed a unique culture and working environment which motivates not only our employees and sub-contractors, but also our customers. Interfab created a cohesive environment, where skilled people, state-of-the art technology and advanced knowledge all benefit the customer who receives high quality product and support not common in this industry.
Our AS/NZS ISO9001:2000 quality assurance system satisfies the most stringent requirements of the industry. It not only ensures high and consistent quality, but also lends itself to continuous improvement of our processes. All product dimensions and other important properties are continually controlled during the entire fabrication processes.
Products And Services
We fabricate a range of items from small delicate components to large cabinets and enclosures, for both indoor and outdoor applications. As for process capabilities, we fabricate product from 0.25 mm up to 8 mm thick in mild and stainless steel, aluminium, brass and copper sheet, and can produce to a general manufacturing tolerance for complex parts of less than 0.2 mm. We are capable of producing prototypes, pilot runs or production volumes with very high levels of consistency.
Interfab provides a full turnkey service to its customers including finishes and mechanical assemblies.
Production Facilities and Equipment
Interfab operates from a modern 2850 square meter purpose built premises.
In response to today’s demanding and changing environment, we have installed equipment that incorporates the latest in manufacturing technology and automation. For laser cutting we utilise modern a high speed flat bed laser and a punch/laser combination press that combines punching, laser cutting, forming and tapping capabilities, both with automated sheet loading and part unloading capabilities, which are considered to be by far the most advanced in the world. Additionally, we have embraced some of the latest in press brake and welding technologies to ensure output growth and quality through process efficiency.
Interfab utilises an MRP system, specifically developed for our industry, to coordinate its activities. This system incorporates real time tracking of all orders, processes, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of the end product to our customers. With improved customer service in mind, we are using internet technology for the receiving of orders and for the transfer of technical specifications and drawings.
We utilise the latest in solid modelling and computer aided design software to design, model and produce detailed fabrication drawings for complex components, as well sophisticated CADCAM software to program our CNC equipment. This software incorporates automatic tool placement, advanced automatic nesting and process simulation.
Customers
Interfab's customer listing is significant comprising leading national and multinational companies engaged in supplying architecture, communications, computing, defence, gaming, medical, traffic control, transport, and other products.
Quality Processes
Quality is and was always the predominant factor in Interfab's culture. Almost zero defects both in-house and on the customer’s premises have been achieved in the past without the benefit or assistance of any formalised quality system.
Nevertheless some years ago, we recognised the necessity of achieving formalised accreditation and achieved this without significant effort. We are accredited by Det Norske Veritas to AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000 and are audited on an ongoing basis.
